We all love board games. We grew up with Monopoly, Scrabble, and many other newer clones. Board game lovers, the rich ones, at least, would definitely have this one particular game in their game room: the Outrage! Deluxe Board Game. This game costs US$14,900 and is considered by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most expensive board game ever.
The Deluxe Outrage Game was inspired by a Seventeenth Century plot to steal the crown jewels of England from the Tower of London. Sometime in 1671, the adventurer Colonel Blood was in charge of a heist to steal the crown jewels and he virtually made away with the loot, but Colonel Blood and his accomplices were caught red-handed as they were leaving the Tower.
The Deluxe Outrage Game was created in he early 90s and was created under the direct supervision of the management of the Tower of London to accuracy and authenticity. The first boxed editions were on sale from 1992 onwards and the game has now sold over 60,000 copies. The game used to only be available at Harrods, Hamleys and the Tower of London store in UK, but now the game can now be bought online. The game represents a detailed plan of the Tower of London and is set in a mahogany cabinet with hand cut dovetail joints where the playing pieces are kept. Each piece of the game is exquisitely created with sterling silver. Every playing piece is colored in enamel, as well as the Elizabethan Crown coins which are also hallmarked solid silver. The replicas of the Crown Jewels are fashioned in 18-carat solid gold and are studded with diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, and rubies.
The Deluxe Outrage Game also has a couple of packs of cards edged with gold leaf. Each Deluxe Outrage Game is individually numbered on the brass plaque to ensure exclusivity, and this plaque can even be personalised upon order. So there’s the most expensive board game ever. Want to try it out?
